Your Guide to Blogging

The first part of our webinar delved into the key elements that define a modern website. We broke down these elements into six crucial components:

1. Why Blogging CAN Be Good

Blogging, when done right, add valuable content to your website, send relevant traffic, and help you to build an audience. It provides content for sharing on all of your marketing channels to keep that audience engaged. Sounds easy right?

2. Why Blogging Can Be Bad

Blogging is not always as effective as everyone makes it out to be. If you are sending the wrong kind of traffic to your website you are not only wasting your time, you are also hurting your website performance.

3. An Example of a Bad Blog

In the webinar Ben, shares an example of a “Bad” blog post that he once created. It was on a topic he thought was relevant and exciting to talk about but in the end, it was sending the wrong kind of traffic to his website. That was traffic that was never going to become a client or even find any value in his content. Because of this, the blog post was a problem, and therefore removed.

4. The Traditional Blogging Methodology

In order to understand more about the pitfalls of traditional blogging methodology, we take a look at what that strategy actually involves.

5. The Problem with This Methodology

We then breakdown common issues that business owners face when trying to maintain this level of marketing output. The most common struggles include not having time to maintain a blog plus newsletter and social media accounts, along with producing content that does not resonate with audiences.

6. An Approach You Can Manage

Then we share another example of how you can turn the traditional blogging methodology on its head. We do this by creating SEO pages instead of a blog. This is meant to drive more intentional traffic to your website that is more likely to become a client or customer. We break this example down into 5 easy steps including Focusing on a handfull of posts, targeting specific search terms, write it more as an SEO page, post whenever you can, and use SEO tools to monitor your results.

7. Another Example (Using This New Method)

Taking this new approach one step further, we share what this would look like for an accountant, as an example. We talk about how taking this approach can take less time and still send more relevant search traffic to your website from users who are more likely to become clients or customers.

8. Monitoring Your SEO Results

Finally, we emphasized the importance of monitoring and analyzing SEO results to refine your content continually. By tracking key metrics such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversion rates, businesses can identify areas for improvement and optimize their content accordingly, ensuring long-term success in the competitive digital landscape.

In conclusion, blogging holds immense potential for business owners seeking to enhance their online presence and engage with their target audience effectively. By adopting a strategic SEO focused approach to blogging, businesses can use their time more effectively to create content for their website that is helping them instead of hurting them.
